I’m thankful for….YOU!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

In addition to the myriad of blessings that I have in my life: a wonderful husband, a loving family, a warm home, enough food to eat, a healthy body, a sweet puppy…I am also thankful for all of you who have, in spite of the state of the economy, continued to shop at our online store. It is people like YOU whose loyalty and generosity keeps small businesses like this one afloat and for that, I am ever grateful. Wishing you and your family a lovely Thanksgiving weekend…..

A Little Peace, Please…..

Friday, November 14th, 2008

It’s the 50th anniversary of the peace sign this year. Since most of us associate the sign with the protests of the Vietnam War, it probably comes as a surprise that it was created in 1958 by English artist Gerald Holtom as a way of voicing his anti-nuclear proliferation views. His idea was to use the naval sign language of semaphore by creating the ‘N’ in nuclear (the bottom portion of the symbol) with the ‘D’ in disarmament (the straight line on the top), enclosing both in a circle. Critics of the symbol questioned its meaning and were skeptical about anyone understanding it. Needless to say, it has become an internationally recognized symbol. At this time in our history, a little peace would be welcome, I’d say. And, having said that, I’m going to show off a few products that we have in stock that feature this ubiquitous sign.

1. Peace Wish Candle $19.95.
2. Peace Soap $8.00
3. Peace of Cake Baking Mold $24.95
4. Peace Sign Wreath $24.95
5. Peace Lip Balm $6.50

Pumpkin, Meet Punkin

Last week, when I picked Coco up from doggy daycare, I was handed a bag of Halloween treats for her. Secretly hoping they had slipped a couple of candy corns in there by mistake, I immediately opened it up to find this pumpkin toy. And, knowing how persnickety my dog is about everything, including toys, I was sure that it was going to be a dud. Much to my surprise, Punkin adored her new pumpkin.

Punkin has been enjoying her fall in Michigan. She loves to run through the path behind our house, chasing squirrels and making leaves crunch.

And, fall just wouldn’t be fall without a new addition to the wardrobe. Here Punkin models her brand spanking new red cableknit sweater. Red is definitely her color, don’t you think?

Here, Punkin goes for a ride for cider and donuts.

And, here she takes her first ferry ride (a two minute ride, but she still looks rather concerned….)

And, lest you think Punkin is little Miss Precious Perfect, here’s a little something she did with a roll of toilet paper when she had 5 minutes to spare.
